A New York and New Jersey Lawyer Who Represents Policyholders and Beneficiaries in Life Insurance Denial Cases

I am a plaintiff’s attorney at the firm of Trief & Olk with offices in New York and New Jersey. I have created this blog to serve as an information resource for life insurance consumers, so they can keep track of developments in the law and also hear about the experiences of other consumers, because life insurance companies, while quite willing to collect premiums from their customers, unfortunately are not always willing to pay out claims.

That’s where a lawyer such as myself comes into the picture to help the beneficiaries of deceased loved ones collect on policies that have been denied.

Life insurance companies reject claims, you ask? They sure do, just like health insurance companies deny them. In the context of life insurance, they do so on various grounds with a couple of the most popular being that the policy had lapsed (meaning, timely payments were not made) or that a material misrepresentation was made in the application.

We’ll be talking about these issues more in blog posts to come.

Hopefully, this blog will serve as a discussion forum about all things life insurance. Sounds interesting, huh? Well, true, it may not be the most fascinating subject matter for many, but it can actually get kind of interesting from a legal perspective. So let’s try to make the most of it!

In closing, I hope this site, as it gets up and running, piques your interest and I look forward to hearing your comments.
